Why We Love It One of these Subs is not like the others.  While this minty sub has been serviced by Rolex Service Center in 2017 (yes, you heard it right, ROLEX) all the key components (dial, handset, bezel) were left untouched. This is an almost impossible scenario, and is the best of all worlds. Featuring a factory refinished case and bracelet, this 39mm steel Rolex Submariner dates to circa 1966, and looks almost as good as new while also displaying a beautiful patina and a super glossy dial. While 'normal' 5513 Subs are commonly found on today's vintage market, gilt dial examples are exceedingly hard to turn up in any condition, but examples of this caliber  -- and service history -- are downright scarce.    The Story Launched in 1953, the Submariner line is one of - if not the single most important timepiece designs in all of wristwatch history. An icon among icons, its signature Oyster case, rotating dive-timing bezel and simple three-hand black dial configuration with perfect proportions is for many the singular most identifiable wristwatch in the world.  Introduced in the early 1960s, the Reference 5513 is easily the most recognizable Reference in the spread. At once handsome and capable, the earliest executions in the series are sought after by collectors for their historical significance and beauty. Spawning a number of variations (and innumerable knockoffs), the early no-date models are some of the most collectible diving watches on the market, discernible from later versions by their gilt dials and PCG (Pointed Crown Guard) Oyster Cases.
