For the better part of the past decade, Tudor has been knocking it out of the park with their contemporary offerings. Watches such as the Black Bay, Heritage Chronograph and Pelagos collections have been flying off the shelves for their impressive looks, sporty construction and thoughtful price points.
With all of the sporty bangers in Tudor’s Black Bay collection, it would be easy to overlook their simpler, time-only offerings. With nearly-perfect proportions, vintage nods including their signature ‘snowflake’ handset, uncluttered caseback and a minimal, elegant design, the Black Bay also offers an incredible value proposition for those looking for a versatile three-handed watch.
In 2018, Tudor expanded the Black Bay collection with the release of the Black Bay 32 — a sibling to the wildly popular BB36 that downsized the entire package without losing a beat.
This example, a Reference M79580-0002, features the aforementioned 32mm stainless steel case and is fitted with a polished bezel, a screw-down crown engraved with the legacy 'rose' logo, a sapphire crystal and a glossy black dial with luminous applied indices. This variant also features a ‘snowflake’ handset and ‘smiley face’ self-winding text a the 6'oclock position.
Powered by Tudor’s self-winding Calibre T600 with 38 hours of power reserve, this piece comes fitted on its factory taupe leather strap with side stitching and a signed stainless steel deployant clasp, making it infinitely wearable for casual or sporty applications alike.
In virtually unworn condition with its factory book set and serializd hangtag, we cannot speak highly enough about this watch. It'll make for a perfect daily driver for anyone who prefers a smaller case diameter.
Simple, robust, and yup... timeless. Perfect? You decide.
