For the better part of the past decade, Tudor has been knocking it out of the park with their contemporary offerings. Watches such as the Black Bay, Heritage Chronograph and Pelagos collections have been flying off the shelves for their impressive looks, sporty construction and thoughtful price points.
With all of the sporty bangers in Tudor’s Black Bay collection, it would be easy to overlook their simpler, time-only offerings. With nearly-perfect proportions, vintage nods including their signature ‘snowflake’ handset, uncluttered caseback and a minimal, elegant design, the Black Bay also offers an incredible value proposition for those looking for a versatile three-handed watch.
In 2017, Tudor grew the Black Bay collection -quite literally- when they released the Black Bay 41, a larger sibling to the massively popular BB36.
This example, a Reference M79540-0011, features the aforementioned 41mm stainless steel case and is fitted with a polished bezel, a screw-down crown engraved with the legacy 'rose' logo, a sapphire crystal and a sleek silver dial with luminous applied indices. This variant, released in 2021, also features a ‘snowflake’ handset and ‘smiley face’ self-winding text a the 6'oclock position.
Powered by Tudor’s self-winding Calibre T600 with 38 hours of power reserve, this piece comes fitted on its original stainless steel bracelet with a signed flip-lock clasp, making it infinitely wearable for a variety of applications.
In virtually unworn condition with its factory book set, warranty card, and hangtag, we cannot speak highly enough about this watch. It'll make for a perfect daily driver for anyone who prefers a larger case diameter.
Simple, robust, and yup... timeless. Perfect? You decide.
