Since 1952, Breitling’s Navitimer has been synonymous with aviation, encapsulating the very idea of the “pilot’s watch” and pioneering several features that have remained part and parcel of the Breitling catalog for over 70 years. The slide-rule bezel, used to make navigational and other calculations before the advent of digital avionics, may have been rendered obsolete since the early days of commercial aviation when the Navitimer was born. But the distinctly old-school mathematical table lives on in the classic Navitimer collection, and now, as part of the Navitimer Automatic 41 line, which removes the chronograph function but retains the slide rule bezel’s multi-scale functionality. Housed in a 41mm stainless steel case with a notched bezel, a screw-down crown, and a  sapphire crystal, this particular Navitimer Automatic 41 “Middle East Edition” features a striking red dial with multiple scales in black and white printing; applied steel hour indices; a date window at 6 o’clock; and a lumed ‘sword’ handset. Powered by the Breitling Calibre 17 automatic movement with 38 hours of power reserve, it comes paired to a brown alligator leather strap with contrasting top stitching a stainless steel folding buckle. Streamlines for contemporary everyday wear, it’s the perfect tool watch for the modern-day aviator.
