Founders Select "The history of car brand/watch manufacture collaborations is, for the most part, a story of missed opportunity. Too often the genius of style and mechanical know-how that lies with the respective collaborators is lost in swirling morass of oversized logo placement and gaudy design. Not so with the early Jaeger-LeCoultre AMVOX series for Aston Martin. Featuring a muted grey palette and typography drawn from the Gaydon era's most stunning Vantage and DB Series cars, this titanium-cased alarm watch hits every mark and ranks at the very top of my favorite car/watch collabs." -James Lamdin Complicated watches are micro-engineering miracles. Imagine the technical facility and savoir faire required to craft something that displays multiple time zones, or tracks the leap years, or counts up to 12 hours…and that can fit on your wrist? What about something that does several of these sophisticated timekeeping jobs simultaneously? That’s the story of the Amvox 1 'Aston Martin' Limited Edition from La Grand Maison itself, Jaeger-LeCoultre. A special collaboration with Aston Martin, it adopts the brand's signature Memovox alarm complication and pairs it with a cutting-edge material, the result of which is an automotive-inspired watch with both vintage and modern elements. Housed in a 42mm titanium case with a sapphire crystal and triple signed crowns, it features a cool multi-tone grey dial with an outer 1/5th-seconds track in white with applied indices; an inner section with white Arabic indices and a date window at 3 o'clock; a final inner section with an alarm track and rotating alarm indicator ring; and a luminous handset. Powered by the automatic Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 918 movement and paired to a signed, black leather strap with a titanium deployant clasp, this late 2000s Reference 190.T.97 is individually numbered on its caseback as example 358/1,000. For an Aston Martin enthusiast — or even just a JLC lover — there could scarcely be a cooler everyday watch.
