Patek Philippe.
Few luxury brands in the world carry the gravitas of their name, and for good reason. The firm's commitment to excellence in horological manufacture is unflinching, and their track record of innovation in design without peer. They continue to lead the industry, and even their fiercest competitors have nothing but the utmost respect for the company.
Vintage Patek Philippe is for many the ultimate goal of timepiece collecting, and for a certain type, the only vintage timepieces they collect. Whichever way you look at it, there is no questioning the elegance of design, superlative manufacture of their movements, and that finding these characteristics on a vintage piece that also tells a story is some next level shit.
We admit it - we don't often carry Patek Philippe in our inventory, nor do we ever expect to have a selection like some of our esteemed peers. We do often assist our clients in obtaining them for their private collections, but this is a rare exception we couldn't possibly pass on - the chance to have a reference 2570 Antimagnetic retailed by Gübelin.
Known to some as the "European Tiffany & Co," Gübelin has been a luxury timepiece retailer in Europe since the mid 1800s, and has had their stamp on some of the finest timepieces ever sold. While many collectors seek specialty dual signature dials, those with the Gübelin mark are simply tops in our eyes.
This particular 2570 was manufactured in 1958 and originally retailed on September 3rd, 1959. It features a manually winding Calibre 12-400 fitted into a solid 18k Yellow Gold case. The satin silver dial is signed "Patek Philippe Geneve," "Antimagnetic", and "Gübelin", and features Arabic hour markers at 9, 12, and 3, and a subsidiary seconds register at 6. The watch is in tremendous original condition, and comes complete with a signed buckle, Extract from the Archives prepared by Patek Philippe in 2013, and the original case back featuring its original inscription:
"How very much in love with you am I - Always Your Diane"
Just. Wow.
