The Rolex Day-Date is synonymous with class, style and success.
Originally released in 1956, the Day-Date quickly became Rolex's flagship watch, similar in design to its siblings in the Oyster lineup, but featured a Day wheel calendar across the top of the dial, a feature that has helped the watch stand apart.
Produced only in precious metals, the Day Date is an alluring mix of practicality and formal wear; at once, it is both incredibly apt for daily wear yet luxurious, befitting a very specific ilk of gentleman for whom a watch should be comfortable in every environment and impressive in any situation.
While sometimes paired with a hidden-clasp bracelet referred to as a 'Presidential Bracelet', many find that a wrist full of gold is far too ostentatious, and while there certainly are exceptions, likely lacking a bit of class. Still, the presidential feel of the watch is unmistakeable - particularly due to the weight that a precious metal adds to the case. Even in white gold, which can appear (to the untrained eye) identical to steel, the wristfeel of the Day-Date is without equal.
This white gold Day-Date is in stunning condition, and where the vast majority of Day-Dates have been destroyed by careless wear and even more careless refinishing, this example retains a very strong case belying it's age. And with it's crisp silver dial and sharp baton hands, there is no mistaking that this is a stunningly subtle execution of one of Rolex's crown jewels.
