Why We Love It
Whether it's a $3,000 dress watch or a $75,000 Daytona, all sides of the vintage Rolex spectrum appeal to us equally. Take for example, this Oyster Precision: perhaps the purest and simplest expression of what a Rolex Oyster can be.
Featuring a silver sunburst dial with Tritium luminous indices and hands, this Oyster Precision features an extra thin case and rare manually-winding movement, meaning a very thin case profile that is easy and comfortable to wear under the cuff.
The Story
Despite the success of Rolex’s sports models, they were not the manufacture’s sole focus of production. Throughout the 20th century, Rolex released dress watches with elegant dials housed in the famous Oyster case.
Known as the Oyster Precision line, they served as an entry point for consumers into the world of Rolex. At a lower price point, they stood outside the Crown’s more elite dress watches such as the Datejust or the Day-Date.
Simple, elegant, yet no less sturdy than their sporty counterparts, they remain just as handsome today as they were when they were created.
