3… 2… 1… Liftoff! Take a poll amongst wristwatch collectors, and we'd bet the consensus would be that there might be nothing more important or iconic in a watch collection than an Omega Speedmaster.  Sure, chronographs such as the Rolex Daytona or the Heuer Carrera are classics - icons even, but neither can match the stature of the Speedy with regards to importance in history. In fact, arguably no watch can. This particular Speedy, a Reference 145.022-68ST, is a transitional model dating to circa 1969. It features the 41mm twisted-lug case that we all know and love, with a domed Hesalite crystal, a signed crown, an excellent black 'DO90' bezel insert, showing the early signs of a light fade, and a crispy clean matte black Tritium dial with an applied logo and matching handset. Packing Omega's Calibre .861 hand-cranking movement within, this piece comes paired on a Ralstra® International rallye-style leather strap. Everyone should own a Speedmaster at one point in their collecting endeavors. It's not only one of the most significant chronographs of all time, it is one of the most significant watches of all time. This is an excellent example if you are looking to get into a proper vintage model!
