There is perhaps no more versatile complication than the chronograph.
From race cars to rocket ships, boats to battlefields, you are likely to find a chronograph being employed to measure a plethora of tasks and times. From the Greek khrónos (“time”) and gráphō (“to write”), a chronograph is a watch that has the ability to record time, generally via the addition of small sub-counters that register minutes and hours.
And what better use for a chronograph than within the confines of a pilot’s watch? IWC makes some of the finest pilot’s watches in the world, with a history stretching back to the early decades of the 20th century.
This particular watch, a Pilot’s Chronograph Reference IW388110, was released in the middle of 2023 and represents the first precious metal model in the current collection. It features a 41mm 5N 18k rose gold case with a green dial, pump pushers, a signed screw-down crown, sapphire crystal, IWC's Calibre 69385 automatic-winding chronograph movement with a day and date complication, and a green rubber strap equipped with a signed rose gold pin buckle and IWC’s EasX-CHANGE system.
In near-mint condition throughout and shipping with its complete set of factory collateral, this Pilot’s Chronograph follows in the footsteps of its utilitarian siblings dressed in stainless steel, ceramic and titanium, while wearing a decidedly luxurious rose gold and green outfit!
