One of the best parts of our job is pulling from obscurity watches that should be, for one reason or another, enjoyed and admired by an ever-growing collector and enthusiast community.
If you've never heard of Bucherer before, we wouldn't blame you. The brand, which was minted in the late 1800s and began producing watches in the early 1900s, has remained relatively obscure, despite its presence in the contemporary luxury marketplace.
But their current collection is a far cry from the watches they were producing throughout the 1960 and 70s. Chronographs were at the heart of the brand, and while a range of Swiss movement and case manufactures were supplying them, Bucherer remained in the forefront, with dials proudly bearing the brand's respected name.
This particular piece in an example of Bucherer at its best: a barrel-shaped, tungsten case, as well as a blue-dial stunner made by Omega, with Bucherer branding front and center, and Omega taking the co-lead with a signed bracelet. This is a truly awesome piece, with a tremendously three-dimensional, multi-layered dial, and sporty 70s appeal.
With Heuers and Breitlings of the era fetching big money, every enthusiast should be on the lookout for a solid chronograph that they can enjoy without breaking the bank: this is that!
