Why We Love It
The Carrera was one of Jack Heuer’s most passionate projects, and his design ethos for this watch can be summed up in one word: legibility.
Jack wanted a watch that was stylish and functional - a watch that gives you everything you need and nothing you don’t.
In June of 2017, TAG Heuer and HODINKEE collaborated and released a contemporary iteration of the widely sought after Heuer "Skippererra" reference 7754 from the 1960's. Unlike the original, this take features a 39mm stainless steel case and preserves proportions from a past age, despite its advanced automatic Calibre 18 movement, visible through the sapphire caseback. Featured with a sunburst blue dial, a wonderful contrasting sub-dial in the original color configuration, and a date display in the 3:00 position. This is as crisp as it gets.
Released in 2017 with a limited production of 125 pieces, this a rare opportunity to own one of the coolest Carreras of the past several decades!
