Seiko makes fantastic watches. Pure and simple.
From the rare as hen's teeth Hi-Beat 6159 to the film-famous 6105 and 6309 models to the economy workhorse SXK007, Japanese watchmakers perfected incredibly well-made tool watches decades ago - and at prices that make the most diehard Swiss watch fans question their spending habits.
This piece, a Reference SRQ057, dates to 2025 and recalls one of the coolest pieces of Seiko history. In 1971, a Seiko Datsun was on the wrist of number 11 when he won the East-African Safari Rally, one of the most harrowing races in history. The incredible chrono we have here is a tribute limited edition of the Datsun, sporting the advantages of modern watchmaking including sapphire crystals and an updated automatic movement. The piece measures 42mm in diameter and features an automatic movement within.
Built on a reputation for fine chronograph construction, this Seiko is one to save for the ages, recalling one of the coolest moves in Seiko history.
These are wonderful timepieces that represent just about everything that we love about Seiko and are overlooked by many. Don't make that mistake!
