What is it about vintage watches that gets our heart racing?
Sometimes it’s the quaint aesthetic, beautiful patina, or the history they represents that tugs at our heartstrings. At other times, it’s the untold stories imbued into each and every mark, scuff and scratch that gives a timepiece that undeniable charm we so desperately love.
This time-only Elgin from the 1940s is imbued with precisely this type of character.
Housed in a quaint gold case, this small-but-mighty piece features an acrylic crystal, an signed crown, elongated lugs, and an engraved caseback that commends a Mr. Barnett for 20 years at Firestone Service — always read the caseback, as they say! The dial has patinated to an awesome champagne tone and applied indices, a matching sharp handset, central-seconds hand.
Outfitted with a thin leather strap with a matching gold buckle, this piece is powered by a self-winding Elgin 25 jewel movement.
Some say that small watches are back. We say they never left!
