The Sea-Dweller is the ultimate expression of Rolex’s ambitions to create the world’s best dive watch.
This journey began with the Submariner in 1953, but exploded in trajectory in 1967 with the launch of the first Sea-Dweller. The addition of the helium escape valve (HEV) and successively better technology has resulted in watches capable of withstanding thousands of meters of depth.
The current-generation Sea-Dweller Reference 126600 evolved from the Sea-Dweller Reference 116600, a watch produced for just a few short years between 2014 and 2017. Though Rolex tried to backpedal to the 40mm size of previous models, it was ultimately the 43mm+ case sizes that proved the best expression of Rolex’s ‘deep’ ambitions, resulting in a timepiece rated to an incredible 1,220m with the famous red dial text of the original ‘DRSD’ of the 1960s and early 1970s.
This Reference 126600 features a 43mm stainless steel Oyster case with a helium escape valve (HEV), a magnified sapphire crystal, a signed Triplock crown, a unidirectional rotating dive timing bezel with a fully-graduate black ceramic insert, a glossy black dial with applied luminous indices and a matching handset, and a matching stainless steel Oyster bracelet with Rolex's fantastic Glidelock clasp with a diving extension.
There’s simply no denying that the Sea-Dweller is the supercar of divers — a title it’s held for decades, and one it won’t be relinquishing any time soon!
