It’s not easy designing a modern-day wristwatch icon — but in the 1990s, French outfit Bell & Ross pulled it off. The brand’s instrument panel-inspired BR-01, with its square case, stark dial, and rubber strap quickly made waves in the watch world, leading to an explosion in popularity for the fledgling Parisian brand. Since then, Bell & Ross has expanded into different case shapes and design profiles, many of which riff on the original BR-01 design. This particular watch, an BR-X1, takes the square-shaped theme of the earliest Bell & Ross watches and updates it with cutting-edge materials as well as a chronograph. Housed in a 45mm forged carbon and titanium case with ‘holey’ lugs, a sapphire crystal, a signed rubber and ceramic crown, and a forged carbon bezel, it features a black, skeletonized dial with applied, luminous indices, an outer tachymeter scale, a matching, skeletonized handset, and a dual-register 30-minute chronograph. Powered by the automatic BR-CAL.313 with 56 jewels and paired to a black rubber strap with a signed, titanium pin buckle, this limited edition of 250 pieces even comes with its factory goodies. A high-tech masterpiece, it’s a watch wholly of the present. If you’ve got the wrist for it, we know you’ll love it!
