Most are no doubt familiar with Jaeger-LeCoultre via the famed Reverso. But that’s not La Grand Maison’s entire story. The dynamic Swiss watchmaking powerhouse is responsible for myriad iconic designs, from — yes — reversible dress watches, to alarm-equipped dive watches, to complicated masterpieces, and more. Indeed, the storied company has one of the most diverse offerings in fine watchmaking. The particular Jaeger-LeCoultre we have here couldn’t be farther, for example, from the elegant simplicity of the Reverso. A Deep Sea Chronograph, it’s stealthy, tactical, and technical; with its ceramic coated aluminum 'Cermet' construction. Housed in a 44mm case with a sapphire crystal, a steel crown, steel pushers, and a unidirectional rotating dive timing bezel with a luminous black ceramic insert, it features a luminous satin black dial with applied 'dart' indices and recessed subsidiary registers, an operation aperture just about the matching luminous handset. Powered by Jaeger-LeCoultre's in-house Calibre 758 automatic winding chronograph movement with 65 hours of power reserve, it comes fitted to a factory Tropic-style rubber strap with a matching 'Cermet' pin buckle. Packed with functionality, this is a fantastic modern chronograph from one of the best manufactures in the game.
