The Constellation was once Omega’s flagship model.
A contemporary to the original Speedmaster, Seamaster, Railmaster and DeVille collections, the 'Connie' was an elevated choice, offering Omega's finest, award-winning precision movements with high-concept design execution and materials. Over the years Omega has produced innumerable Constellation models, with a wide variation in case shape and dial design.
This particular example, a Reference 1202.30.00, dates to the 1990s and uses an integrated case and bracelet style that clearly drew its inspiration from Gerald Genta's masterpieces of the 1970s. This design language is still in use in the current Constellation collection today, and serves to bridge the gap between a pure dress watch - as the Constellation was originally intended - and a sporty, more luxurious timepiece.
Utilizing a 35.5mm case produced in steel, this example is trimmed with solid 18k yellow gold accents throughout, including its engraved Roman bezel, signed crown, and bracelet link 'bars'. Its luminous dial is finished in a silver opaline tone, and looking closely you'll notice a fine engraved cross-hatched texture pattern, as well as a gold framed date window, applied logo and hour indices. This Constellation is powered by the Calibre 1120 automatic movement with Chronometer certification, and of course sports Omega's Observatory engraving on its caseback.
In excellent condition throughout and including its box set and factory booklets, this lovely Neo-Vintage Constellation offers pedigree and performance in a stylish package that's pretty hard to beat - at any price!
