One factor that differentiates the Analog:Shift approach to vintage timepieces is that we readily step outside the box to source some incredibly interesting and unusual watches for your consideration.
When it comes to vintage chronographs, we love the heavy hitters just as much as the next guy. The Rolex Daytona, the Heuer Carrera, and the Omega Speedmaster all have special places in our hearts — and collections. But for every well-known name in the vintage watch world, there’s one or two that make us stop and say:
“Now this is why we got into collecting watches in the first place.”
This Mido Multi-Centerchrono stands apart from both the sports and classically-styled chronographs from the mid-20th century with its unique, centrally-configured minute counter hand tucked beneath the seconds counter hand. It also features very cool 'mushroom' pushers, an acrylic crystal, and both telemeter and tachymeter scales on on its silver dial, plus a luminous 'kite' handset as well as 'Arabic' indices. The hand-cranking Calibre 1300 column wheel movement — based on the Valjoux Cal. 23 — is housed in a beautifully proportioned 35mm steel case, which is complemented with the addition of a turquoise strap with contrasting top stitching and a stainless steel pin buckle.
This is a wonderful timepiece that represents just about everything that we love about vintage watches, and there's no telling if and when one of these will surface again. So don't wait!
