In the past 10 years, Tudor has been doing a fantastic job with their contemporary offerings. Watches such as the Black Bay, Heritage Chronograph and Pelagos collections have been flying off the shelves for their impressive looks, sporty construction and aggressive price points. But their professional line doesn't tell the whole story of Tudor's rebirth.
This particular watch is a 38mm Tudor Royal Reference
M28503-0007 featuring a yellow gold crenelated bezel with alternating fluted and polished finish, a Roman numeral brown dial, a matching ‘stick’ handset, and a date at 3 o’clock. Tudor’s Calibre T601 and fitted to the Royal collection’s signature integrated five-link bracelet with two tone stainless steel and gold plated links.
This piece has a really unique personality, reminiscent of some of the vintage bracelet watches of the previous era. That said, it has many of the finishes of a contemporary piece, allowing to occupy a versatile middle ground.
While there is a 1970’s sport-luxury vibe to the Royal collection, it stops well short of being what most of us deem a “sports watch.”. It's a pretty dressy timepiece, in fact. And to that point, the Tudor Royal collection is one of the most appealing Tudors we’ve seen in a while that isn't a steel dive watch or GMT.
