Why We Love ItI It's no secret: We love the GMT-Master. These days, we aren't alone in that sentiment.  GMTs are some of the most in demand timepieces on the market. While most collectors and enthusiast might make a bee-line for the Pepsi variety, the less obvious- and potentially better value- are two toned options. Enter the 'Root Beer'.  The star of the show is this dial. To adequately describe the brown 'tiger's eye' dial in words is a challenging task. The sunburst brown is dynamic and radiant- Changing shades of rich auburn dance with each ray of light that touches it.   The 39mm unpolished Oyster case comes with a solid link two tone jubilee bracelet, with 18k yellow gold center links. Now, for anyone who has never tried on a Jubilee, it's one of the most comfortable, and visually appealing, bracelets ever designed.   While most collectors are still clamoring for Pepsi dials from all eras, there are other GMTs that offer something a little more uncommon at a slightly more grounded price point. But then again, Clint Eastwood didn't wear any of those... just saying. The Story The Reference 16753, released in the late 1970s, provided a fresh new look to the GMT line. The combination of steel and gold perfectly encapsulated the preppy stye that prevailed in that period. Moreover, this shifted Rolex into the luxury sphere, which established an upward sales trend that infused much needed cash flow into the manufacture. Visually and technically, the 16753 stands out from other iterations of the GMT-Master. The glossy dial and colorful bezel give the watch a sleek appearance that’s magnified by the gold detailing on the crown, bezel, bracelet and handset. But the improvements to the 16753 wasn't only skin deep—a new movement was also fitted, which had hacking capabilities as well as a quickset date, one of the first applications of this feature in the collection. Sleek and functional, the 16753 "Root Beer" GMT makes a quirky but delightful choice for the sophisticated and playful traveler.
