Hamilton GI Watch - Dec. 1981

In October of 1964 the MIL-W U.S. Military watch was born. Since its inception, this General Issue, or GI, watch has undergone seven revisions, but has remained benchmark of reliability and utilitarian simplicity. This particular execution hails from 1981, falling in the 'Revision B' category.  This revision introduced tridium luminous paints on the dial and hands - which earned them the famed 'rad' dial, denoting the radiation emissions, and "Dispose Rad. Waste" caseback - and fixed spring bars.  While Timex was producing these same MIL-W watches in plastic cases, Hamilton, who had been among the first to win the military contract in 1964, continued to fashion theirs from corrosion-resistant steel.   With a simple 7-jewel manual-wind movement and the iconic military styling, these spartan timekeepers are the perfect companions for everything from everyday wear to fighting battles in dank jungles.
