Universal Genève is a special brand, and one that most of us here at Analog:Shift and vintage enthusiasts alike feel very strongly about.  While its Polerouter is perhaps best known to collectors, the line of chronographs known as the 'Compax' is a close second in popularity — and for us, it ranks as one of the most desired models of vintage chronographs, full stop. Ever since its debut in the 1940s, it has seen numerous iterations ranging from more complicated and elegant dress pieces to sporty racing chronographs housed in more substantial cases. This model, the 1990s-era Compax 1950 Reference 884.485, took for its inpsiration the acclaimed Compax of the mid-20th century. Housed in a 37mm stainless steel case with dual pump pushers, a signed crown, an acrylic crystal, and a burgundy tachymeter bezel insert, it features a handsome silvered dial with an outer 1/5th-seconds track, a triple-register chronograph display with burgundy totalizers, and a silvered 'dauphine' handset with a burgundy seconds hand. Powered by a hand-wound Lemania chronograph movement and paired to one of our awesome Ralstra Driver straps and matching stainless steel pin buckle, this striking reissue presents a unique opportunity to buy into the U.G. universe...before the now Breitling-owned brand begins making a fresh crop at significantly higher prices!
