There’s just something about an exotic dial. For all that we harp on construction and quality being more important than mere aesthetics, we can’t deny that when we spy an exotic dial, we get heart eyes. That subtle splash of color of the chrono sweep hand juxtaposed with the rest of the dial can make us weak at the knees. It’s safe to say we love the Camaro here at Analog/Shift, and have long been rooting for its success. Even so, it’s never been one of the darlings of the vintage chrono world. Though it’s been picking up traction in recent years, it’s always been overshadowed by its stablemates. But there are few Camaros as cool and unique as these so-called "Exotic Dial" variants, that make an already-unusual watch all the more special. Featuring beautiful silver tone dials with contrasting dark grey subsidiary registers and a dark grey tachymeter ring, they are a different take on "Panda" dials, and are arguably just as rare. If the color scheme on the dial wasn't enough to wow you, the bright orange central chronograph hands give them that extra touch of 70s wonder. It’s small details like that—coupled with the gorgeous sunburst finish on the front of the case—that make an exotic dial Camaro stand out in the crowd. This particular example, a Reference 7220, is in outstanding condition, with a crisp case showing that mesmerizing factory brushing. Complete with a signed crown, and a lovely unblemished dial (which retains all of its luminescent plots!), it comes complete with a coveted Gay Frères beads of rice bracelet with HLA end links. This is without question a collector-grade timepiece.
