Breitling has long been purveyor of chronographs to pilots, having designed models such as 1942’s Chronomat from the ground as a no-nonsense instrument for use in the cockpit.
The Chronomat has evolved significantly since those days, retaining its aeronautical influence but greatly expanding upon its remit to include features such as dive watch-like water resistance and chronometer-grade accuracy.
This particular piece, a steel execution likely dating to the early 2000s, features a very wearable, 39mm case with a sapphire crystal, 'fluted' pushers and a matching crown, a timing bezel, and a signed pill bead bracelet. Inside, it has a beautiful rare mother of pearl dial with contrast subsidiary registers, a matching handset, and Breitling's robust and reliable Calibre 13 automatic winding chronograph movement.
Beautifully constructed, robust, and perfectly emblematic of a neo-vintgae timepiece from the brand, how can you go wrong?
