Introduced in 1958 as part of the manufacture’s 125th anniversary Jubilee collection, the Memovox Parking took the already-brilliant Memovox concept and gave it a new mission. Its patented dial features a highly recognizable blue-and-white pictogram disc that acts like a built-in parking meter. Instead of setting the alarm for a specific time of day, you set it for a duration of up to 2 hours, and the watch counts down your remaining parking window. When time’s up, it chimes. In other words: midcentury Swiss watchmaking, weaponized against municipal bureaucracy.
Housed in a 35mm stainless steel case, it wears with that perfect late-’50s balance: compact, clean, and confidently modern. The dial is where the magic happens — a mix of classic Memovox symmetry and graphic, almost Bauhaus-style clarity. It’s one of those designs that feels so specific to its era that it loops right back around into timelessness.
Inside is the hand-wound Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 814, a movement built around the Memovox’s signature alarm function — crisp, mechanical, and genuinely useful even today (meetings, flights, espresso timers, you name it).
Fitted to a blue alligator leather strap and finished with a steel pin buckle, it’s ready to wear as the most elegant reminder system ever invented.
The Memovox Parking isn’t just a collectible. It’s a reminder that the golden age of Swiss watchmaking was also an age of ideas. And this one still rings true.
This spectacular piece comes from the collection of Zaf Basha, a noted authority on Jaeger-LeCoultre who has published two books: Vintage Military Watches: A Guide for the Collector and Jaeger-LeCoultre: The Ultimate Guide for the Collector. Over the years, Basha put together one of the most impressive assemblages of vintage JLC timepieces in the world, and we're thrilled and honor to offer many of them for sale on Analog:Shift.
