Designing a simple watch that stands out from the pack without being outlandish is a formidable task.  Indeed, most designs come up short. But not so this example from Piaget, makers of some of the world’s best ultra-thin watches: This beauty from the 1970s is that rare design that’s both rooted in the era during which it was conceived, yet forward-thinking enough to remain contemporary decades later.  It features a 26mm 18K yellow gold rectangular case with vertical, linear finishing, a mineral crystal, an unsigned crown, and a crisp, satin silver dial with printed black 'Roman' indices, a 'dauphine' handset, and a signed, fluted crown. Powered by an ultra-thin, hand-wound movement and paired to a handsome brown crocodile leather strap with a signed yellow gold pin buckle, this incredible timepiece is suitable for most wrists and makes for a statement dress watch for the discerning collector.
