The Nautilus is without question one of the great horological icons of the 1970s, and one of the most in-demand timepiece models on the planet. Collectors and prospectors alike are clamoring to get their hands on Genta's second great luxury sports watch, and with the discontinuation of the flagship reference 5711 in steel, this dramatic rise in popularity shows no signs of slowing down.  This particular Nautilus is a ladies’ model, the Reference 4700/5J-050. While later generations of this reference feature white date wheels, these first-gen examples are equipped with black date wheels.  Housed in a 28mm yellow gold case, this example features a gold tone champagne dial with applied, diamond indices, a lumed ‘pencil’ handset, and the aforementioned black date wheel. Powered by a Patek Philippe quartz movement and paired to an integrated, yellow gold bracelet with matching factory diamond settings, it’s every bit as iconic as its larger, mechanical siblings. This particular variant stands out thanks to its striking diamond bezel, and center link settings. The Nautilus' unique bracelet design lends itself quite well to having these diamond fittings, and they do wonders to help accentuate the design of the broader watch collection.  The Nautilus has become a true piece of horological history; an icon of icons; and must be experienced to be understood. Just saying!
