Piaget Protocole 'MOP'

Designing a simple watch that stands out from the pack without being outlandish is a formidable task.  Indeed, most designs come up short. But not so this example from Piaget, makers of some of the world’s best ultra-thin watches: This beauty from the 1970s is that rare design that’s both rooted in the era during which it was conceived, yet forward-thinking enough to remain contemporary decades later.  It features an 18K yellow gold 25mm x 28mm rectangular case with vertical, linear engraved finishing, a mineral crystal, an unsigned crown, and a crisp, mother of pearl dial framed with a black outer ring with with a minimalist "no index" aesthetic, a 'dauphine' handset, and a minimalist crown tucked into the case side. Powered by a period-appropriate quartz movement and paired to a handsome lizard skin strap with a signed yellow gold pin buckle, this incredible timepiece is suitable for most wrists and makes for a statement dress watch for the discerning collector. Horologically interesting and positively beautiful to behold, it checks all the boxes!
