What looks like a Heuer Carrera, wears like a Heuer Carrera, and keeps time like a Heuer Carrera....but is not a Heuer Carrera?  Why, a "Poor Man's" Heuer Carrera, of course! In the 1960's, Heuer manufactured high grade chronographs that were branded for and sold by other companies. "Less desirable" and considerably less expensive than their Heuer-branded counterparts, these watches are commonly referred to as a “Poor Man's Heuers” by collectors today.  We’ve written about these awesome watches a lot in the past, but we still marvel at them every time they pass through our doors.   This particular example was manufactured by Heuer, but branded and sold by Zodiac, and bears a striking resemblance to the iconic Heuer Carrera of the same era.  With similar quality components, including a manually wound Valjoux chronograph movement, the only real difference is a slight variation in case design.  For a brief comparison, a "Panda" dial Heuer Carrera reference 7753SN is currently valued at nearly ten times the asking price of this Zodiac.  Oh, the power of a brand name! With its original dial, a great case, and a recent service, this piece is a great way to give your wrist the feel of a true timekeeping icon without putting the hurt on your wallet.
