What is it about vintage watches that gets our heart racing? Occasionally it’s the quaint design, beautiful patina, and the history they represent that tugs at our heartstrings. And at other times, it’s the untold stories imbued into each and every mark, scuff and scratch that gives a timepiece that undeniable charm we so desperately seek. This IWC Calibre 89 happens to have all of the above. It features a 35mm stainless steel case with an acrylic crystal, an IWC ‘fish’-signed crown, and beautifully-designed, curvaceous ‘holey’ lugs in a 'fancy' or 'corne de vache' pattern. The dial features applied hour indices, quadrant Arabic numerals, a ‘dot’ minute track and a matching ‘alpha’ handset set against a matte silver color that has developed a light cream tone. A beautiful, cursive ‘International Watch Co.’ signature completes the look. Powered by the legendary, hand-wound Calibre 89 movement, this piece is an incredible find considering its rarer stainless steel case. Don’t sleep on this one!
