Japan is known for many things, perhaps one of the most widely recognised for its technological innovations. In the world of watches, Japanese watchmakers are widely known to excel in integrating modern technologies and meticulous craftsmanship to their watches, proving to be a serious competitor against the Swiss. Since 1950, Orient has been one of the most prominent watchmakers in Japan, producing mechanical in-house movements and high quality watches that pack incredible value. Joining the Seiko Epson group in the early 2000s, Orient continued to strive in producing a wide array of options ranging from divers to dress watches. Orient Star features Orient's luxury line of JDM watches, offering their most premium and most eminent watches among their brand. Distinguished by the beautifully finished movements and refined designs, Orient Star focuses primarily on three main categories: Classic, Sports and Contemporary, each having their own unique design element and characteristics. Orient Star Mechanical Contemporary Layered Skeleton Green - Ltd Ed 700pcs Ref. RE-AV0B11E To celebrate its 70th anniversary back in 2021, Orient unveiled a stunning new addition to their Contemporary line: the Layered Skeleton. While a total of three models were released at the time, Orient is now shaking things up a few years later by introducing a gorgeous sunburst mint green dial to the lineup—and it's absolutely set to amaze. As part of the Contemporary collection, this exquisite timepiece brings a modern aesthetic that delivers just the right amount of elegance and sophistication to suit any occasion. Off the bat, a high level of detail is reflected in the tastefully finished case of the Orient Star Mechanical Contemporary Layered Skeleton. The stainless steel case receives a highly polished bevelled edge that extends from one end of the lug to another, adding a touch of depth and luxurious character to the case. Mint green dial with semi skeleton display This high polish finish contrasts especially well with the satin brushed finish on the side of the case. Having a case diameter of 41mm, a thickness of 13.6mm and a lug to lug distance of 48.3mm, the watch has a versatile size that fits many wrist sizes. Moreover, the lugs curve downwards gently, allowing the watch to hug the wrist comfortably. The watch is water resistant up to 100m (10 bar), perfect for everyday use. One of the most captivating features of the Orient Star Layered Skeleton is undoubtedly its dial. Protected beneath a dual-curved sapphire crystal, the two-layer dial comes in a striking mint green tone that instantly evokes the feeling of a fresh breeze over a blue ocean. Interestingly, the layout takes its creative inspiration from texturing found in fine business suits. The unique semi-skeleton opening is shaped like a classic paisley pattern, while the upper layer of the dial features a beautiful sunburst texture. This open-work design extends up to the 12 o'clock position with a power reserve display that reveals the inner workings of the mechanical movement, perfectly balanced by a running 60-second subdial down at 6. 41mm stainless steel case The skeletonized cut-out at the 9 o'clock position displays the beating heart of the movement, viewing the moving parts of the movement is simply a joy to watch. The dauphine hands are painted with luminous paint to add visibility in dark lighting conditions. The intricately finished applied indices adds another dimension to the dial, making it truly sophisticated and elegant. Each piece carries a unique serial number engraving on the exhibition screw-in caseback, emphasizing its exclusivity. Through the caseback, the in-house caliber F6F44 is revealed, an automatic movement crafted exclusively for Orient timepieces. This refined engine is equipped with 24 jewels, provides a 50-hour power reserve, and runs at a steady 21,600 vibrations per hour, showcasing Orient's dedication to both precision and craftsmanship.
