Watches and racing are inextricably linked. In many ways, the Heuer Carrera is at the heart of that connection. From its very inception, the Carrera was meant to break the mold set by Heuer’s earlier chronographs. Like the Autavia, the first watch that Jack Heuer had a hand in creating, the Carrera was intended to be a racing watch. But rather than rely on the tried-and-true to create the Carrera, Jack Heuer sought to create something entirely new, drawing inspiration from the work of masters of modern design. As modernist design evolved, so did the Carrera. This Carrera dates to the 1970s — an era when the automatic Calibre 11-derived movements had already supplanted manual-winding technology, but one in which the advent of quartz also created the need for more affordable mechanical watches. It features that era's 38mm stainless steel cushion case with barrel chronograph pushers, a signed crown, and a domed acrylic crystal. The luminous blue-grey dial features an outer white tachymeter scale with black printing, a triple-register chronograph display with white totalizers, applied, faceted hour markers with luminous tritium plots, a luminous 'black line' handset, and a red center-mounted seconds hand. Beautifully balanced within the confines of a 38mm case, the dial design is incredibly legible and features a bit of the '70s funk that we absolutely love.  Powered by the manually-wound Valjoux 7736 chronograph movement, this piece is in honest condition and comes fitted to. black leather strap with matching stainless steel pin buckle. Frankly, all you need now is a Ferrari 512S! Whether you’re taking an inside line during an overtake at your local race track or just cruising around town, it’s the perfect companion for a fast-paced lifestyle.
