In the De Ville line, introduced in 1960, Omega combined the water-resistant case of the Seamaster collection with high-grade movements often used in other references. However, the cases of the De Ville line — in any metal — were thinner and more elegant than their sportier contemporaries. In such a way, elegance was not substituted for functionality, and the De Ville could be worn with a suit and not lose any of its water resistance. As time progressed, so too did the spec sheet of the average De Ville become more impressive, leading to a collection of handsome yet robust timepieces perfect for everyday wear. The particular De Ville is not the more typical round-cased fare discussed above, however, but a curious oval-shaped dress watch positively dripping with charm. Housed in a 37 x 29 mm gold vermeil case with a lovely black cabochon crown, a stepped bezel, and an acrylic crystal, it boasts a deep black lacquer dial with only a gold-tone 'dauphine' handset and white typography — nothing more. Powered by the hand-wound Omega cal. 625 movement and paired via a set of 'stirrup' lugs to a signed black leather Omega strap with a matching, signed gold vermeil pin buckle, this De Ville couldn't possibly be more 'disco' if it tried!
