There is more to Cartier than the Tank. Much more. While Parisian jeweler to the stars Cartier may be best known in horological circles for its famed Tank watch, the French firm produced — and continues to produce — numerous other watch models that deserve equal billing for their unique and sumptuous designs.  The Pasha is one such silhouette. Launched in 1985, it was supposedly inspired by the lines of a one-off commission from 1932 for the Pasha of Marrakesh that featured a screw-down, waterproof cap over the crown. None other than famed watch designer Gérald Genta was the one who revived the design in the 1980s, launching yet another winning collection for the famed Parisian jeweler and watchmaker.  This piece, a Reference WSPA0018, dates to 2022 and features a 41mm stainless steel case with a sapphire crystal; a concave, rotating time-elapsed bezel; cabochon chronograph pushers; a crown protector; and the maison’s signature sapphire cabochon crown. The silver guilloché dial features a triple-register display; a date window at 4:30; applied hour indices; and a matching, blued-steel ‘kite’ handset. Outfitted on a multi-link stainless steel bracelet with a hidden deployant clasp, this piece has all the Pasha design hallmarks with an added layer of sports functionality via a handy chronograph. Everyone knows the Tank. This is an opportunity to thoroughly enjoy its equally compelling sibling!
