The Nautilus is without question one of the great horological icons of the 1970s, and one of the most in-demand timepiece models on the planet. Collectors and prospectors alike are clamoring to get their hands on Genta's second great luxury sports watch, and with the recent news of the discontinuation of the flagship reference 5711 in steel, this dramatic rise in popularity shows no signs of slowing down.  This particular Nautilus is a ladies’ model, the Reference 4700/1A. While later generations of this reference feature white date wheels, these first-gen examples are equipped with black date wheels that meld beautifully with the dial.  Housed in a 25mm stainless steel case by Favre Perret, this example features a black ‘Sigma’ dial by Stern Frères with applied, white gold indices, a lumed ‘pencil’ handset, and the aforementioned black date wheel. Powered by the Patek Philippe quartz Calibre E19 and paired to an integrated, stainless steel bracelet, it’s every bit as iconic as its larger, mechanical siblings.  The Nautilus has become a true piece of horological history; an icon of icons; and must be experienced to be understood. Just saying!
