Founder's Select This extremely rare two-tone Speedmaster from the early 1980s proves the versatility of the Speedy Pro as a platform for iterative and imaginative variations. Not only is its composition entirely 'of the era' but it is downright striking with a champagne/silver panda dial and perfect patination. This very watch lived for years in my personal collection, and in all that time I never saw another one in the wild - super cool piece! -James Lamdin 3… 2… 1… Liftoff! Take a poll amongst wristwatch collectors, and we'd bet the consensus would be that there might be nothing more important or iconic in a watch collection than an Omega Speedmaster. Sure, chronographs such as the Rolex Daytona or the Heuer Carrera are classics - icons even, but neither can match the stature of the Speedy with regards to importance in history. In fact, arguably no watch can. But this is not just any ordinary Speedmaster. This particular Speedy, a Reference 145.0022, is constructed out of two-tone 14k yellow gold and stainless steel. Dating to circa 1983, it features the 42mm twisted-lug case that we all know and love, with a domed Hesalite crystal, a signed crown, a black aluminum tachymeter bezel insert, and a matching, brushed 'champagne' Tritium dial wirth recessed silver sub registers and a matchign black handset. Packing Omega's Calibre .861 hand-cranking movement within, this piece comes fitted to a correct matching two-tone bracelet with a signed blade clasp. Everyone should own a Speedmaster at one point in their collecting endeavors. It's not only one of the most significant chronographs of all time, it is one of the most significant watches of all time.
