Parmigiani Fleurier is a relatively young brand with an outsized impact. Founded by master restorer Michel Parmigiani in 1996, P.F. creates pieces that draw inspiration from Michel's experience reviving important timepieces from brands such as Patek Philippe, Vacheron Constantin, and Breguet. Coupled with his horological experience in traditional watchmaking and an enduring passion for architectural design, Michel Parmigiani has earned a seat at the haute horological table. Defined by a particular design language, the Toric, Kalpa and Ionica formed the foundation of the brand's early catalog. The latter, with its tonneau-shaped case and movement, is a particular standout, marrying design language from marques such as Cartier and Breguet with modern sizing and sensibilities. No longer part of the Parmigiani Fleurier collection, it's a thought-provoking timepiece worthy of your attention. This particular Ionica from 2003 is housed in a 36mm tonneau-shaped 18K rose gold cased with a double-fluted bezel, a fluted cabochon crown, a sapphire crystal, and a sapphire caseback. It features a silver guilloché dial with applied rose gold 'Breguet' indices, an 8-day power reserve indicator at 12 o'clock, a small-seconds display above 6 o'clock, a date window at 3 o'clock, and a rose gold 'spade' handset. Powered by the hand-wound Parmigiani Calibre 110 movement with an 8-day power reserve 28 jewels, it comes paired to a 20mm taupe-colored leather strap with cream top-stitching and a rose gold pin buckle. Elegant and unconventional, it's the type of dress watch that conveys a confident individuality. If that sounds appealing, be sure to get in touch!
